"El Muro se Cayó" (the wall came down) is a pasodoble written as a duel: two egos circling each other in the arena, pushing away and pulling back, never truly meeting. The 2/4 brass and snare carry the drama of the bullring, but the fight is between two people. Then the turn: the wall isn't the other person, it's what you expect of them. Drop the ego, accept what is, and the wall falls. What's left is not two dancers but one movement. Part of the 99 Songs of Love, Peace and Rebellion project.
