«Dead Air» es una inmersión claustrofóbica de synth-pop en la saturación digital. Sobre sintetizadores que parpadean y ritmos fragmentados, la canción captura la sensación de ahogarse en un feed sin fin, donde lo real y lo falso suenan al mismo volumen. El estribillo es un grito contra el ruido: «Static! In my head!». A diferencia de las canciones posteriores, no ofrece resolución: el final se disuelve en el siseo. La mente está llena, pero el alma no puede leer.
